ACTIVITY REGISTRATION FORM

You are cordially invited to submit a proposal to organize an activity for the Peoples’ Global Action on Migration, Development and Human Rights (PGA)which will be held on October 22 – 30, 2008 in Manila, Philippines. The PGA is a parallel civil society event in relation to the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) that is organized by a coalition of civil society organizations both at the local and international levels.  The PGA is independent from the intergovernmental GFMD process. The Parallel Event will bring together migrants, people’s movements, social movements, CSOs and labor unions to discuss migration policies that respect migrants’ and all people’s human rights. It will entail an exploration of the full range of issues involved in migration, including the underlying problems of development, poverty, joblessness, right to mobility and how we can collectively address these.

The PGA Week will include two categories of activities:

  1. Self-Organized Activities or Organization-Specific Activities
    Wednesday, October 22nd – Saturday, October 25th (4 PM)*

    Self-organized activities are any activities that are within the main theme (migration, development and human rights) of the PGA, but do not fall into the Cross-Cutting themes. Activities could be in any form like seminars, workshops or free activities such as conferences, roundtable discussions, trainings, organizational meetings, sectoral and regional meetings, forums etc. as well as self-managed cultural activities such as concerts, caravan, and street entertainment

    * Note: Activities must end by 4pm on October 25th in preparation for the Global Plenary Opening).

    Registration Procedure:

    Activities organized from October 22 – 25th should follow the procedures below:

    1. Organizers should pre-register online at http://www.mfasia.org/peoplesglobalaction/index.html by completing information requested. Each organization may register for a maximum of two activities. 
    2. Upon approval by the Organizing Committee, a confirmation will be sent through e-mail.
    3. Organizers must supply the activity program by September  30thin order to be posted in the web site.

    Guidelines:

    1. Organizations should cover the costs of running the activity.
    2. Organizers can decide on the venue of the activity, however, it is advisable to hold the activity closer to Rajah Solayman Park. For those outside the Philippines, MFA can facilitate bookings/reservations. For a list of possible venues, click here
    3. Workshop organizers are responsible for essential furniture; all fitting and other requirements. If the venue does not have provisions for rental of equipments, please bring your own audio/visual equipment.
    4. Those who require translation should provide their own equipments and interpreters. (For assistance in arranging interpretation for English-Spanish and English-French, contact Migrants Rights International at migrantsrightsinternational@gmail.com.)
