The Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) is an annual inter-governmental forum in which issues related to migration and development are being discussed. The first GFMD took place in Brussels, Belgium in 2007.
The second GFMD took place in Manila, Philppines on October 2008. Migrants Rights International (MRI) along with other civil society groups organized civil society events and mobilizations during, and leading up to, the GFMD in Manila, including a civil society parallel event concurrent to the GFMD (Peoples' Global Action on Migration, Development and Human Rights)
